In 1985, three visionary business owners established the Black Excellence Awards Ceremony. Their mission was to honor the heroes of the Milwaukee community.

For more than four decades, this awards program has stood as a pillar of recognition, gratitude, and hope.What began as a simple effort to spotlight everyday heroes has grown into a cherished tradition—one that honors individuals whose quiet strength, bold leadership, and remarkable service continue to make our community stronger.Year after year, this program has celebrated people who give of themselves not for applause, but because they believe in the power of compassion, integrity, and collective responsibility. It recognizes teachers who shape futures, volunteers who help carry burdens, and business owners who provide service, innovation, and creativity.As we celebrate 41 years of honoring excellence, we also acknowledge a legacy that continues to inspire new leaders, new dreamers, and new change-makers.
