a proud product of Milwaukee Public Schools, has her roots deeply anchored in the soil of City.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at UW-River Falls and went on to UW-Whitewater to receive her Master’s in Education. A former MPS teacher for 15 years, Lynda loves the young and the young at heart. Those close to her describe her as caring, sensitive, friendly, and compassionate.

Since 1984, Lynda assisted her late husband Nathan Conyers and his business partners in publishing The Milwaukee Times Weekly Newspaper. In 1985, Lynda along with Nathan created Wisconsin’s largest Black History celebrations: The Black Excellence Awards. Then in 1988, Lynda went on to assist in establishing a journalism scholarship for minority students in the name of another founding partner, Louvenia Johnson. In 1992, she launched the largest Black owned and operated printing, sign, and banner shop and was known throughout the city for their obituary programs, which was located on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

Lynda loves being involved in and giving back to the community. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the NAACP, The Black Women’s Network, Top Ladies of Distinction, Eta Phi Beta Sorority, and The Wisconsin African American Women, LTD. Lynda serves on the Boards of the Sunrise Rotary Club, The F.A.S.T. Program, Zonta International, Franciscan Peacemakers, Greater Milwaukee Urban League Guild, Sorotismist International Milwaukee Club, AAUW- American Association of University Women, North Central Service Club, Frontiers International for Women, North Central Service Club,  and the Historic King Drive BID #8.

Lynda has been recognized for her outstanding efforts and passion by The Business Journal of Milwaukee, Governor of Wisconsin, Strive Media Institute, Holy Redeemer’s Women of Honor, 1290 WMCS, and the NAACP.

Her biggest accomplishment is right at home: Lynda is the mother of two loving adult daughters Deloris and Morgan.
